Here are the items I’m eyeing:

I love owls! (They have all of my favorite wildlife as a matter of fact).

I’m not even sure what this is for but it would sure look cute on my desk…

And sooooo much more – time to save my pennies!

Now if only Shana would add a wish list feature… :)

The more I think about it, the more I like it. No one wants to have to rely on sponsorship for their careers, but the reality is that independent artists need money to get themselves established and recording.

Product advertising can give them a big chunk o’ change and at the same time afford them some control over their image. They can refuse to work with companies that violate their personal ethics, and choose to work with companies that support the same causes and ideals they do.

It’s not a bad deal, overall. After all, if it weren’t for Apple, half of America wouldn’t know who Feist or Yael Naim are, right?

The death-knoll for the established music industry is getting louder and louder. When you have established artists like Reznor and Radiohead walking away from their labels’ “golden handcuffs” to produce their own music, that’s a pretty good sign that the indie scene is gathering much needed momentum. A creative revolution is upon us.

Check out this spot from NPR featuring Reznor’s new album, Ghosts I-IV. You can listen to the NPR report as well as some of the music here.

If you haven’t heard Reznor since Nine Inch Nails broke on to the scene in the early 90′s, you’ll be surprised to see the evolution of his art. It’s sophisticated but still edgy, and now that he’s got 100% creative control there’s no stopping him.

I just bought a few shirts (including the one pictured here) from Circles & Squares - they don’t have the largest selection of shirts – but they do have some really cool ones to choose from.

And they seem like they’re just a small enough business that you most likely don’t have to worry about seeing clones of yourself wearing the same thing.

And by the way, if you have a little one (like I do), they’ve got an even wider selection of hip and adorable clothes for kids.
