Product Endorsements for Indie Artists
I read this interesting article about indie artists taking product endorsements. The more I think about it, the more I like it. No one wants to have to rely on sponsorship for their careers, but the reality is that independent artists need money to get themselves established and recording.
Product advertising can give them a big chunk o’ change and at the same time afford them some control over their image. They can refuse to work with companies that violate their personal ethics, and choose to work with companies that support the same causes and ideals they do.
It’s not a bad deal, overall. After all, if it weren’t for Apple, half of America wouldn’t know who Feist or Yael Naim are, right?
